(verified owner)I turned it inside out, so that the scratchy part of the Velcro was facing out, rather than against my scalp. I also put a folded tissue between the chin strap and my chin, because otherwise my chin perspires and itches. I only had to adjust the top once when I got it, and use the larger part behind the neck to take it on and off.
It leaves no marks on my pillowcase, unlike a previous chin strap I had, and this one had no odor when I first opened it.
